Creative Washtenaw serves as the regranting administrator for MACC's Region 9 - Hillsdale, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Monroe and Washtenaw counties. It manages arts and cultural projects, professional and organizational development and arts and educational minigrants for eligible artists, cultural specialists and educators, organizations, schools, nonprofits and agencies.

Arts & Cultural Projects Minigrants provide special opportunities to address local arts and cultural needs. These projects connect communities with the world by exploring, sharing and supporting creative expression. By doing so, they promote the health and well-being of communities and citizens throughout Michigan. MACC believes that sharing creative experiences and expressing creativity build powerful connections between people, in our communities, in the world around us and in ourselves.
The Arts & Cultural Projects Minigrant program provides support for production, presentation and creation of excellent arts and culture that promotes public engagement, diversity, lifelong learning and the strengthening of communities through locally developed arts and culture.
Michigan K-12 schools are eligible for grants of up to $1,500 to pay for arts equipment (including repairs of arts equipment) or supplies being used within the classroom/school setting. Michigan K-12 teachers in any arts discipline may apply for the grant including creative writing, dance, film/video, music, visual arts and theater. Grants are awarded on a reimbursement basis.
Applicants must be an accredited Michigan preK-12 educational institution, public or non-public school, private school, home school, school district, intermediate school district/regional educational service agency or an accredited Head Start program.
Applicants may receive only one Art Equipment & Supplies grant per school building, per school year. In addition, the same school may not receive this grant in two consecutive years, so they should not apply.
Grants will only be awarded to one applicant per educational institution.
A certified teacher must be the primary contact.
Furniture or equipment that becomes part of the school building is not eligible.
MACC recognizes the importance of ongoing education, leadership, knowledge and skills development for nonprofit arts and cultural organizations and professionals artists/creatives, cultural providers and educators.
Professional & Organizational Development minigrants assist nonprofit arts and cultural organizations, artists, cultural specialists, administrators and educators with opportunities that specifically improve their management and/or bring the individual or the organization to another level artistically. In addition, the Minigrant POD program gives Michigan and individual Michigan arts and cultural organizations, artists, cultural specialists, administrators and educators a presence at national conferences and workshops.
Grant amount - up to $500
Michigan K-12 schools are eligible for grants of up to $500 to pay for transportation cost for an arts or culture related field trip .
Applicants must be an accredited Michigan preK-12 educational institution, public or non-public school, private school, home school, school district, intermediate school district/regional educational service agency or an accredited Head Start program.
Grants will only be awarded to one applicant per educational institution.
A certified teacher leading the field trip must be the primary contact.
Travel and expenses associated with student competitions and/or performances, such as student band festivals, choir, or theatre tours are not eligible.
Private/personal transportation costs are not eligible (i.e. parent's cars).
MACC grants are due annually on June 1.
