Description

Pam Siegfried

Pam Siegfried has been involved with art all her life. She grew up in a home with a scenic artist, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from St. Louis University with a special interest in oil painting. While attending that school, she painted murals for the theater department. After graduation she became a production artist for Reynolds Metal and later a medical illustrator at Washington University in St. Louis. As an outlet for creativity, she made wheel-thrown pottery at Craft Alliance in St. Louis, MO. She learned glassblowing at the Toledo Museum of Art, displayed glass work at art shows around the Midwest, and won several awards. After moving to the Detroit area, she got back into oil painting. She met some really wonderful people in the Michigan Plein Air Painters, Plein Air Troupe (Metro Detroit), and Plein Air Artists of West Michigan. Now?rain, snow or shine?she is out painting multiple times a week. As a member of Palette and Brush Club (southeastern Michigan), she has won awards at the spring 2014 exhibit and the 2019 Paint Creek Center for the Arts show. She won second place in the Emerging Artists competition at the 2015 Paint Dexter Plein Air Festival. Her work is currently displayed at Heritage Park in Farmington, MI. ?Always interested in perspective, she is now including depth and buildings in her plein air paintings. Her paintings capture the colors and mood of the landscape, person or place. Bright colors and strong shapes capture a joyful and fun day, while soft color and line represent a more subtle, quiet and peaceful environment. Pam is always capturing the light?because light allows the color, shapes and mood to come alive in a painting.
